Because DSW knows the importance of hair care, these classes will address the importance of proper hair care and maintenance to ensure the longevity and health of braided/locs/natural hairstyles and care. This will include techniques for washing, moisturizing, and protecting the hair, and mitigating damage.

Apprentice Braider Class

4 Weeks

Tue/Thu Nights 7pm to 9pm

​Prerequisite: None

Apprentice class provides entry-level, fundamental theory, and tutorial practical training for individuals with little to no braid experience. Develop braiding skills through four hours weekly theoretical and practical learning. This program will explore topics such as, hygienic and sanitation practices, products, tools, expert parting, basic braid techniques. This beginner’s course focuses on the foundation of braiding.

Transitional Braider Class

4 Weeks Tue/Thu Nights 7pm to 9pm

Ages: 18+

​Prerequisite: Apprentice Braiding Experience

Transitional class is designed to expand your braiding skills . This training program designed for braiders ready to take their skills to the next level. Four hours of weekly training classes paired with 10 hour supervised salon practical training.

Ambitious Braider Class

Ambitious class is a combination of classes to help build your career with thorough training from the ground up! Our most comprehensive training program. Little or no braiding experience required. This program allows inexperienced individuals to work under the supervision of a mentor or an experienced team to learn trade skills. Good candidates demonstrate responsibility, a willingness to learn, positivity and teamwork skills.
